Can you tell us a little about your background and your new role?
I started my career as an ecologist at Oxford, before pivoting to work on infectious cancers during my MPhil at Cambridge, and then during my DPhil at Oxford became a computational biologist studying plant evolution. I worked in drug discovery for a year before joining Twig, where I develop algorithms and ML tools to guide experiments, analyse lab data, and improve experimental design.
Why did you decide to join team twig?
I wanted to work on one of the big challenges facing humanity, and I could see that Twig was tackling our reliance on fossil fuels and intensive farming in an innovative way using novel, scalable methods – I found this really exciting! I’ve loved working in a small team of such committed scientists (who are also a lot of fun!)
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love working with fabric, and do a lot of dressmaking and soft furnishing design. In good weather, I also enjoy losing myself gardening in my small London plot, and walking my cocker spaniel, Artie.
