Can you tell us a little about your background and your new role?
I have been working on the science of sustainability using synthetic biology for 15 years by engineering microbes to eat waste from paper mills, generating clean biodiesel replacements or bioengineering and scaling cleaner production of nutraceuticals and cosmetics. As a synthetic biology scientist at twig, I will be using my experience to help streamline a world-class, rapid microbial strain production and scale-up pipeline using the newest technologies.
Why did you decide to join team twig?
The twig team is dedicated to doing synthetic biology the right way, building on the successes and learning from the failures of the industry. The data infrastructure and learning systems being implemented are unparalleled, while the team is top-tier and the vision is inspiring, with a sobriety that will mean success.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy the outdoors with my family and my big dog. You can find me clearing my head on a snowboard hill, camping, hiking, taking in a music show, or trying and failing to relive glory-days on the basketball court.
